The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 18

Well I think the game show is at an end. This is what awaited me when I got to work today.

officemess.jpg

We got broken into and from the look of things, I’m pretty sure it was Homeless Frank. The paperwork you see is from my folder on the game show.

But then as soon as I saw the dry erase board I knew that wasn’t the worst of it.

Highly Targeted, when you signed on for the game show you took great pains to make sure we didn’t know your identity. The problem is that on your very first email you accidentally included your real name in the header. I’m afraid that info was in the files that Frank went through.

Frank, if you’re reading this, please reconsider, it was all just a joke. HT was kidding.

Highly Targeted, I don’t know what to say. I guess anonymity is never guaranteed on the internet. You may want to consider watching your back for the next week or so.

The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 17

highly-targeted.jpg homeless-frank.jpg

Our regular scheduled gameshow is on hold again today as coverage of the high drama between our contestants continues.

Homeless Frank came by yesterday and I told him what Highly Targeted was saying and the troubles we’ve been having with the cease and desist letters and emails.

He has this to say:

“You tell that son of a bitch in Chicago (Highly Targeted) that I ain’t never touched that woman. If he knows whats good for him he’ll shut his trap before this Vietnam vet goes and shuts it for him. Now gimme my beer money.”

Highly Targeted, your response?

A bit of a self serving forecast, but still a fascinating look forward from Eric Schmidt of Google. Including the prediction that social networks might virally spread the next generation of web based software.

The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 16

gameshow_header.jpg

I’m afraid that the gameshow is on hold today while we try to sort things out among our contestants.

Events have taken another strange turn today when the website Yesbutnobutyes received this letter.

frank-email.jpg

Highly Targetted would you mind setting the record straight about what you know about Homeless Frank and this man’s wife? I’ve been unable to find Homeless Frank recently and even Steve from Adrants seems to be steering clear of us.

This is all getting to be a little too weird.

The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 15

gameshow_header.jpg

And a good Monday morning to all of you joining from the west coast drive time with the Wonder Weasel and Johnny Show!

Editors Note: Campfire takes no responsibility for the remarks made by Highly Targeted on Friday when he suggested that the divorce proceedings mentioned in the cease and desist order we got last week were caused by Homeless Frank meeting the mother of Daphne. Such a meeting has, to the best of our knowledge, not occurred. All comments are the contestant’s own.

highly-targeted.jpg steveadrants.jpghomeless-frank.jpg

Because of issues between her parents, Daphne is no longer able to join us as a contestant but we’re pleased to announce we’ve secured Steve Hall from Adrants to fill in for the week. Great to have you Steve, now lets get down to the nitty gritty of fun with marketing.

Fake Steve Jobs is suffering a brand identity crisis this morning after being outed by a reporter from the New York Times. What sort of spin would you give FSJ to help him overcome the deficit of being found out?

Cloverfield Shooting Down the Street

The secretive film Cloverfield, otherwise known as 01-18-08, or “Slusho,” is shooting near our office today and have parked some military vehicles on the street. I knew it was the film since all the crew guys had badges labeled “Cheese” which is the fake name for the film being used during it’s production. Since this film is a genius at marketing itself, I thought it worth posting some pics.

And here’s some footage from a few days ago of them getting crushed cars ready for the shoot.

The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 14

gameshow_header.jpg

Sorry about the lack of an update yesterday but we’ve had some news come down the pike that changes things up a little.

Yesterday we got served this cease and desist letter from the attorney of the little girl’s Dad.

So until we figure out what to do I guess today’s question is….is it our fault that Daphne’s parents are divorcing?

The Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 13

Welcome back to the game show that wants to get to the center of the tootsie pop in 2 licks!

Adage reports this morning that the creator of the Oscar Mayer “My bologna has a first name” ad campaign has died. What would be a good theme song for his funeral?

Campfire Marketing Game Show Day 12 – Results!

gameshow_header1.jpg

Today we asked our contestants to try and correctly ID which Campfire employees worked in what department. Let’s see how they did.

workers2.jpg

targeted-answer.jpg Highly Targeted: This kind of exploitation is exactly why I sold only my NON-personally identifiable data. You guys have no shame, huh? I’ll play along, though. Let’s go with A and E as the account people (lots of pep). C and D creative (whiteboards in the background). B and F production (clearly thinking about their next bit of code). And for extra credit may I point out that the dude with the backpack in Jeremiah’s flickr pic that always shows up on your site looks an awful lot like Frank. (Editors note: For the record, the guy in that photo is one of the partners, Gregg, not a homeless guy with a lot on his mind…although sometimes the distinction is blurry.)

daphne-answer.jpg Daphne the 5 year old: Will they be my friends too? Or will they ask more dumb questions? Why does that lady at the top always giggle when I see her?

frank-answer.jpg Homeless Frank: Them some hot looking broads but all the guys look like assholes. Reminds me of some of the idjits I dealt with in the army. Kinda guys that somehow manage to make you take point every single time you trot out into the jungle. I wouldn’t trust a single one of ‘em.

We also had a mystery contestant today named “Dubya!”

wanswer.jpg Dubya A. account person. look at her!

B. Production. does she ever sleep?

c., d., e., f. – creative, creative, production, production.

The correct answers were: A. accounts, B. production, C. accounts, D. accounts, E. production, and F. creative

Tune back in tomorrow for another exciting question!
